Individual Christmas Date Puddings

Cold weather means warm puds!

With Christmas right on our doorstep, these individual date puddings are deliciously decedent and perfect for the festive day! This recipe gets all of its sweetness from natural sugars found in the date paste and dried fruits, leaving you with the lingering taste of toffee and caramel – mmm datelicious!


180g Date Paste

120g Apple

65g Grated Carrot

55g Breadcrumbs

20g Flaked Almonds

1 tsp Nutmeg

150g Raisins

150g Sultanas

150g Chopped Dates 

65g Plain Flour

2 eggs

80g Vegetable Suet

Juice and Rind of One Orange


Pre-heat the oven to 160oC (140 oC Fan) / 320oF/ Gas mark 3

Grease individual pudding moulds

Put the date paste, breadcrumbs, peeled and diced apple and grated carrot into a bowl and mix until well combined.

Add all of the remaining ingredients and mix well.

Pour spoonfuls of mixture in to the pudding moulds to about 1 cm from the rim.

Place into a bain marie and bake for approximately 1 hour in the centre of the oven.
